TerraRad’s PoLRa sensor was recently flown over a golf course in Las Vegas to demonstrate the value for maintenance professionals

In May, TerraRad’s customer and collaborator the Desert Research Institute organized a demonstration at The Club at Sunrise in Las Vegas, Nevada. TerraRad is currently developing a package for golf course maintenance professionals designed to conserve water and optimize course conditions. The unique ability of the PoLRa sensor to provide near real time measurements of soil moisture across fairways and greens will support uniform growth to enhance playing conditions, while reducing fertilizer use and water costs.

Regions in the Western United States, Nevada and California in particular, will experience increased irrigation costs coupled with increased fertilizer expenses. TerraRad’s technology is becoming more valuable to natural resource management professionals as sustainability becomes a necessity rather than just an option.
